Jamie Pettus, PsyD began her career as a Registered Nurse, and quickly realized her love of psychology would not be ignored. After a brief career as a nurse, she resumed her educational journey, completing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Her journey continued in Springfield, Missouri, where she enrolled in graduate school to study Clinical Psychology at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. While there, she had practical experiences in various areas, including working with homeless clients and using Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help those with personality disorders and traumatic life circumstances.

After graduate school, Dr. Jamie moved to Vancouver, Washington and completed her internship at a community mental health center, where she worked with low income clients to address a wide variety of mental health issues. She continued her training there with a focus on psychological assessment and continued her work with patients with personality disorders.

Dr. Jamie’s residency was completed at an agency that focuses on providing psychotherapy to seniors in care facilities. While there, she developed a love for working with seniors, and this fondness for working with this population led her to continue to work in care facilities after she graduated from graduate school.

Dr. Jamie found peace and joy in the Pacific Northwest, and lived there for many years, working in her private practice with a focus on LGBTQIA+ clients. She especially enjoyed working with transgender and gender variant clients, helping them navigate transition and the stressors that often accompany living a life that doesn’t fit society’s expectations.

Life intervened, as it often does, and Dr. Jamie found herself packing up her life and moving to Virginia to help her father in his final years. She worked at a community health center and was able to further pursue her love of psychological assessment as part of a team providing assessments for ADHD. She is beyond excited to be a part of the NeuroSpark team, and is eager to join you on your journey.
