FAQs

You Have Questions. We Have Answers.

Do you offer a consultation before the assessment?

Our team would love to provide you with a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your concerns, answer any questions you may have about our services, and explore the pros and cons associated with formal assessment.

Will my assessment diagnose other conditions?

Our focus is on autism and ADHD. If we feel a comprehensive assessment is required for other conditions, we may recommend you follow up for additional evaluation with a specialist in that area (e.g. learning disabilities).

What are the current wait times for an evaluation?
  • Consultation call with NeuroSpark team - Available within one week.

  • Assessment Appointment and Clinical Interview - Available within two weeks

  • A phone call to discuss results - Provided within one week of completing the clinical interview. (*Results are typically provided at the conclusion of the clinical interview)

  • Written report - Provided within two weeks of completing the clinical interview

  • Follow-up services - Can be scheduled any time following the completion of a clinical interview

Is an interview with a parent or caregiver required?

No. We’re confident that you can provide the necessary information, but if there is anybody in your life that you would like to include, let us know and we would be happy to integrate them.

Our coaches are also happy to have your loved ones participate in coaching sessions with you, or separately, if you wish to have them be a part of your process.

Is a formal assessment with NeuroSpark required to receive coaching and accommodations consulting?

No. Whether you're self-diagnosed, previously diagnosed, or exploring, we are here to help all neurodivergent people.

Does NeuroSpark accept insurance?

NeuroSpark doesn’t communicate with insurance companies or provide direct billing of our services to insurance companies. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network provider benefits, you may be able to receive reimbursement from your insurance carrier.

What are the cons of formal diagnosis?

Some cons surrounding formal diagnosis is of course stigma, discrimination, and rights restrictions. Unfortunately, diagnoses such as autism can impede access to gender-affirming healthcare, immigration, serving in the military, adoption, parental rights, and legal autonomy. However, because we don’t communicate with insurance companies, your results are completely confidential and shared only with you. Your results do not become a part of your medical record and are not accessible to any provider or entity. Your diagnosis is yours to share, or not share, as you see fit.

*Update 4/24/25: Please see FAQ below about RFK Jr.'s proposed autism registry.

APRIL 2025 UPDATE: Will NeuroSpark Health share my diagnosis or records with the government?

Short answer: No. We do not share client records or diagnostic information with the government or any other outside party unless we are legally required to do so (such as via a subpoena or court order) — and even then, we will push back to the fullest extent allowed by law to protect your privacy.

Here's what you should know:

  • Your privacy is protected.

All client records at NeuroSpark Health — including autism and ADHD assessments — are protected under HIPAA and applicable state laws. That means your information is confidential and can’t be shared without your consent, except in rare and specific legal situations.

  • We understand the concern.

In light of recent news about the proposed federal autism registry, we know many in our community are feeling alarmed. We are, too. Historically, systems have not always had the best intentions toward disabled and neurodivergent people, and your instinct to be cautious is valid.

  • We don’t support forced tracking or registries.

We are firmly against any form of data collection or registry that occurs without full, informed consent. Your identity, diagnosis, and story belong to you — not to the government, not to researchers, and not to any system that may try to use your information to stigmatize, surveil, or control.

  • We will always stand on the side of autonomy and dignity.

At NeuroSpark Health, we are committed to neurodivergent safety, self-determination, and justice. We’re monitoring this situation closely, and we will speak out against any policy or initiative that compromises the rights of our community.
